HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing his employer alleging, he was unfairly terminated due to his race.

Jarick Pink filed a complaint June 3 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Williams Companies, alleging racial discrimination, violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and retaliation.

According to the complaint, Pink, an African-American, was employed by Williams as a construction safety specialist from 2010 until his abrupt termination May 7, 2018. The plaintiff alleges he was always an excellent employee but his supervisor, Ryan Mulvania, began to make his work difficult.

The suit says Mulvania would remove Pink from certain locations and made racist statements about the plaintiff's appearance in his year-end review. Pink says he reported the mistreatment, after which Mulvania wrote up the plaintiff, stating Pink was in violation of company policy.

The plaintiff, one of the few African-Americans in the safety division, alleges he was the only employee treated in this manner, leading to his termination May 7, 2018.

Pink seeks trial by jury, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Ronald Dupree of Dupree Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
