HOUSTON — An elderly Harris County woman is suing the management group for a Webster retirement center, alleging she was injured by a violent employee.

Joy Rutter filed a complaint June 21 in Harris County District Court against Hettig Management Corp., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint Rutter was a 79-year-old resident of Baybrook Park Retirement Center, 500 W. Texas Ave., Webster. The suit says Rutter was harassed and assaulted by Omar Reyes, a maintenance worker for the defendant, most recently on May 7. The lawsuit states Reyes had previously attacked other residents at the center.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to respond to the incident in a proper manner and Rutter was caused to suffer severe bodily injuries and damages.

Rutter seeks relief of more than $1 million, interest, court costs and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Randall O. Sorrels and Kelly M. Woods of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston.
