Women allege they were raped due to vacation agency's negligence

Lawsuits

HOUSTON — Three Michigan women and another from California are suing a vacation agency, alleging two of them were raped while on a trip due to the defendant's failure to warn of possible danger.

Paiton E. Bater, Amber R. Torralva, Janet DeSantis and Margaret A. Torralva filed a complaint on July 19 in the Harris County District Court against Vacations to Go Inc., alleging gross negligence and failure to warn.

According to complaint, Bater and Amber Torralva were violently raped May 8, 2015, by three employees of Beaches Ocho Rios Resort in Jamaica as their mothers, DeSantis and Margaret Torrovola, frantically searched for them.

Vacations to Go, which organized  the trip, allegedly told the plaintiffs that the destination would be safe and fun for females and families. However, the plaintiffs allege they were unaware that the specific destination they chose was known for a high occurrence of sexual assaults.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $1 million, judgment against the defendant, interest, costs of suit and all other just relief. They are represented by attorneys Andy Rubenstein and Anuj Kapur of D. Miller & Associates PLLC in Houston.
