Fiesta Mart customer alleges negligence led to fall, injuries

HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing a Houston grocery store, alleging he was injured in a slip and fall.

Jose Verdines filed a complaint Aug. 13 in Harris County District Court against Fiesta Mart LLC, alleging negligence and liability.

According to the complaint, Verdines an invitee of the Fiesta Mart property, 8130 Kirby Drive, Houston, on June 28, 2015. The suit alleges Verdines slipped and fell on liquid that had collected by the coolers, leading to serious injuries, medical expenses, pain and suffering and mental anguish. 

The plaintiff alleges Fiesta Mart was negligent through failing to clean up the mess or warn of the danger present.

Verdines seeks up to $150,000, court costs, interest and all just relief.  He is represented by attorneys David K. Mestemaker, Norman Straub and Jonathan B. Zumwalt of Mestemaker, Straub & Zumwalt in Houston.
