HOUSTON — Fiesta Mart faces a lawsuit from a Harris County customer who slipped on liquid soap at its Houston store and suffered injuries.

Norman Griffin filed a complaint Oct. 28 in Harris County District Court against Fiesta Mart LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Griffin was at the Fiesta Mart on San Jacinto Street in Houston on Aug. 25. The suit alleges Griffin slipped on what "he believed to be" a liquid soap spill. He says he suffered injuries to his head, right hip, back, right leg and both shoulders that led to pain and impairment, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The lawsuit states one Fiesta Mart employee told Griffin she was trying to find the trail of liquid soap while another employee said the plaintiff should call the claims department.

The plaintiff alleges there were no warning or caution signs in the area and he was "not aware of the dangerous and defective condition."

Griffin seeks monetary relief up to $100,000, interest, litigation costs and all other just relief. He is represented by attorney Magaly Grimaldo of The Daspit Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
