LOCKE LORD LLP: Locke Lord Elects 6 New Partners From 3 Offices and Key ‎Practice Groups

Locke Lord LLP issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.

Locke Lord has promoted six lawyers representing the Firm’s Chicago, Dallas and Houston offices to Partnership level, effective Jan. 1, 2020. The lawyers are members of the Firm’s Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Corporate, Energy Litigation, IP Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology, Labor and Employment and White Collar Criminal Defense and Internal Investigations Practice Groups.

In Chicago:

Emily Savas provides counsel on patent and trademark matters focusing on complex pharmaceutical patent litigations. She counsels generic drug manufacturers in all aspects of patent litigation, including pre-suit notice letters, fact and expert discovery, claim construction and oral argument in federal district courts. Savas practices before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for both patent and trademark prosecution and is a registered patent agent with an advanced degree in molecular biology. She represents businesses in trademark ownership and infringement disputes, including summary judgment proceedings and expert discovery.

In Dallas:

Taylor Brinkman focuses his practice in federal court and class action litigation. In his time at the Firm, he has advised organizations, such as banks, life insurance companies, housing developers, transportation authorities and universities, in complex and high-profile class action litigation matters. Brinkman’s extensive experience comprises all phases of litigation, including jury trials and multiple appeals. He began his career as a law clerk to a federal district judge, which gives him — and his clients — insight into judicial decision-making.

Brendan Gaffney concentrates his practice on white collar criminal defense and internal investigations for a wide range of clients. He has experience conducting investigations on behalf of public and private entities involving various allegations, including financial fraud, mail/wire fraud, health care fraud, theft of company funds, discrimination, securities and antitrust violations and other issues. Gaffney has represented entities and individuals as defendants and witnesses in connection with federal civil and regulatory investigations and criminal investigations and prosecutions involving various alleged violations of federal law.

Joe Unis provides counsel to clients in a variety of business and energy litigation matters. He has experience advising oil and gas exploration and production companies, individuals, health care companies, universities, financial institutions, insurance companies and other corporate clients with respect to contract, title and royalty disputes in all phases of litigation and negotiation. Unis has also litigated patent, copyright and trademark matters. He develops creative strategies and seeks efficient resolutions for his clients and also has federal and state court jury trial experience.

In Houston:

Lauren Corbeil focuses her practice on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital transactions, corporate governance and other general corporate and commercial matters. Corbeil’s oil, gas and energy practice includes a wide range of energy-related commercial transactions for clients in the midstream and upstream segments. She also provides counsel regarding disputes and compliance issues to clients across many other industries, including oilfield services, private equity, real estate, intellectual property, manufacturing, distribution, supply and information services.

Jeff McPhaul represents employers in a wide variety of litigated employment matters in state and federal courts, arbitration and before administrative agencies. McPhaul’s experience includes litigating claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and failure to accommodate; wage and hour disputes; defense and enforcement of noncompete and nonsolicitation agreements; OSHA complaints; and fiduciary duties, trade secrets and non-subscriber cases. McPhaul also advises on a broad range of employment-related issues. He is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
