Injured rig worker seeks more than $1 million in negligence case

HOUSTON — A Louisiana man who allegedly slipped on stairs and suffered injuries while working on a land rig owned seeks more than $1 million in damages. 

Brandon Jenkins filed a complaint  Dec. 6 in Harris County District Court against Helmerich & Payne Inc., Helmerich Payne International Drilling Co., WPX Energy Production LLC, WPX Energy Permian LLC and WPX Energy Services LLC, alleging negligence. 

According to the complaint, Jenkins was working on the defendants' land rig on Aug. 24, when he slipped and fell on stairs. Jenkins says he suffered a torn meniscus, an out-of-place knee cap, torn muscles in his right knee and an injury to his back. 

He alleges the defendants failed to properly inspect or provide a safe work place and failed to provide proper medical treatment.

Jenkins seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, interest, attorney fees, costs of court and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Jason Itkin, Cory Itkin, Ryan MacLeod and Jacob Karam of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
