Pappas Restaurants sued for $200K, waiter allegedly spilled butter on woman two years ago

BEAUMONT – Nearly two years ago, Linda Richard was allegedly “severely burned” when a Pappas Restaurants waiter spilled hot butter on her, resulting in “catastrophic injuries.”

On June 12, Richard filed suit against Pappas in Jefferson County District Court, seeking up to $200,000 in damages.

According to the lawsuit, on July 31, 2017, Richard was a customer at the Beaumont Pappas when she was “severely burned” when a waiter “spilled hot butter over the top of her body.”

The incident resulted in “catastrophic injuries,” the suit states.

Richard asserts Pappas had a duty to safeguard her.

She is suing for her alleged past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement, lost earnings and medical expenses.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents her.

Judge Baylor Wortham, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
