HOUSTON — A tenant alleges he slipped on water that was leaking from his apartment's AC unit and suffered injuries.

Cedric Johnson filed a complaint Sept. 12 in Harris County District Court against Willowbend Apartments I, LTD and Partin Properties LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to Johnson's complaint, he was a tenant at the Willowbend Apartments in Humble in September of 2020. He alleges that he informed the defendants about a leakage from his AC unit and that they attempted to remedy the problem.

Johnson further alleges that the defendants failed to discover there was a rock lodged in the AC system and that he awoken on the morning of Sept. 11, 2020, and slipped in the water leakage. He claims the defendants breached their duty which caused him to suffer pain, mental anguish, impairment and lost wages. Johnson also claims he incurred medical, hospital and pharmaceutical expenses due to his injuries.

Johnson seeks monetary relief of more than $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Don Thomas, II and Cameron Blake Ellis of Ellis & Thomas PLLC in Houston.
