HOUSTON — A 92-year old woman who suffered a broken hip after falling in a revolving door at a business in Houston is claiming negligence and liability.

Katherine Ann Markiewicz filed a complaint Sept. 7 in Harris County District Court against Plan B-MOB LP and Healthcare Realty Holdings LP alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to her complaint, Markiewicz, a 92- year old, was at the defendants' medical clinic on Fannin Street in Houston on May 31, 2022. She alleges that as she entered the building through the revolving door, another patron pushed the door at a high speed and caused her to fall and break her hip. Markiewicz alleges the revolving door had no mechanism to slow the speed when it is pushed which makes it hard for elderly persons to access the building.

She further alleges the defendants knew of the hazard and failed to "act in a manner that would protect her or warn her of the danger." Markiewicz also claims the defendants failed in their duty to inspect the premises and fix the dangerous condition. She alleges as a result of her fall she also incurred medical costs.

Markiewicz seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Andrew Cobos and Nicholas Kacal of The Cobos Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
