HOUSTON – A woman has filed a negligence lawsuit against the owners of a Houston apartment complex, alleging that she tripped over a dangerous exposed wire and fell, injuring herself.

Plaintiff Misanena Scott filed the lawsuit in the Harris County Circuit Court against Madera Residential, LLC, doing business as The Venti, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 9, 2022, Scott was visiting her boyfriend at The Venti apartment complex in Houston. She claims that while she was on the premises, she tripped on an exposed wire, causing her to fall and injure herself.

According to Scott, the defendants negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its visitors, by failing to discover the exposed wire and eliminate the risk posed, failing to provide warning of the dangerous exposed wire, and negligence in general.

Scott alleges that as a result of the defendant's negligence, she sustained bodily injuries that have caused her pain, suffering, lost wages, and mental anguish. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover from her injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking $250,000 in damages, plus interest, court costs, and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Aysia Mayo-Gray of J. Jackson Law Offices, PLLC, in Houston.
