HOUSTON – A Harris County resident filed a lawsuit citing strict liability and negligence following an alleged vicious dog attack.

Plaintiff Annie Burney filed a lawsuit in the Harris County District Court against defendants Stephanie Guerra and Alejandro Mendoza, citing strict liability and negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Burney claims that on December 27, 2022, she was walking her son's two dogs on Yellow Pine Drive in Houston when the defendants' dog suddenly and without provocation ran across the street and bit her multiple times, causing her severe injuries.

Burney claims that the defendants breached their duty to control their dog to prevent it from injuring others and cites various forms of negligence, including failing to keep the dog restrained, failure to warn others of their dangerous dog, failing to properly train their dog, failing to keep the dog leashed, and failing to muzzle the dog.

Burney is seeking damages for pain, suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, and disfigurement, plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Adrea R. Yoss of Stewart J. Guss in Houston.
