Paige Marie Blue has filed a lawsuit against John Codwell, III., DPM, and Codwell Family Foot Center, PA in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. The court case ID is 2024-20017 and it was filed on March 28, 2024. The plaintiff alleges medical malpractice and seeks damages for bodily injuries caused by the defendants.

The plaintiff, a resident of Missouri City and Fort Bend County, Texas, was a minor patient of Dr. John Codwell and the Codwell Family Foot Center. On June 6, 2018, the defendants performed foot surgery on Paige Blue without informing her or her family that the surgery involved permanent hardware in the form of three surgical staples in her foot. This alleged negligence resulted in serious pain and discomfort for over a year before Paige and her family discovered the presence of these staples.

After undergoing a second surgical procedure to remove the undisclosed staples on December 4, 2019, some of Paige's pain was alleviated. However, she continues to suffer from past and future physical pain and mental anguish due to this incident. The plaintiff accuses the defendants of failing to disclose risks associated with the surgery which could have influenced their decision to consent to it.

Paige Marie Blue is seeking actual and exemplary damages within the jurisdictional limits of this court. Specifically, she seeks monetary relief of over $200,000 but not more than $1 million for future medical expenses; past and future physical pain and mental anguish; past and future physical impairment; past and future disfigurement; and exemplary damages for gross negligence.
