Two Texas-based shipping companies are gearing up for a legal battle over a contract worth more than $6 million.

The James J. Flanagan Shipping Corp., located within Jefferson County, is suing the Mediterranean Shipping Co. for breaching its contract.

MSC is a global shipping company and has an office in Dallas.

According to the plaintiff's petition, MSC accepted numerous services and materials from Flanagan without compensating the company. The tally for services rendered comes to $6,187,811.27, plus interest.

Flanagan is represented by James Eloi Doyle of Doyle, Restrepo, Harvin & Robbins, a Houston firm.

The suit was filed on March 28 with the Jefferson County District Court.

Case assignment is pending.
