Hospital employee sues Christus

A Christus employee is suing the hospital for an injury she sustained while attempting to move patients.

Michele Clements filed the personal injury suit against Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Jefferson County district court on May 7.

The plaintiff's original petition says that while working for the defendant on June 25, 2006, she was trying to move patients and was injured. The petition does not state the nature of Clements' injuries.

The suit says the defendant does not subscribe to workers' compensation insurance.

Plaintiff says the hospital is negligent because it failed to provide proper training, proper supervision and proper assistance with regard to care of patients.

Clements is seeking damages for physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earnings and earning capacity, physical impairment and medical expenses.

Chad Matthews of Sanes, Matthews & Forester in League City is representing the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

Case No. D179-257
