An injured driver has filed a personal injury lawsuit against another driver who took a wide turn and caused a motor vehicle wreck.

Ida Arlene Russell filed suit against Darren Barney and Ridge Runner Hauling on May 16 in Hopkins County District Court. The defendants removed the case to the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division on June 15.

The incident occurred on Aug. 9, 2011 as Russell was stopped at the intersection of Industrial and Broadway. Defendant Barney was also stopped at the intersection. According to the lawsuit, while turning left, the defendant made a wide turn and hit Russell's vehicle.

The defendants are accused of negligence for failing to keep a proper lookout for Russell's safety, failing to control the distance between his vehicle and plaintiff's vehicle, and for failing to maintain his vehicle within the turning marks of the roadway.

The plaintiff is asking the Court for an award of damages for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, interest, and court costs.

Russell is represented by Sulphur Springs attorneys B. Gregg Price and Daniel Roper.
