HOUSTON - Complaining that gender discrimination preceded her termination, Isabel Sandoval has filed suit against her employer.
Recent court papers filed May 10 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas assert that American Acryl L.P., American Acryl L.L.C. and American Acryl NA L.L.C. favored Sandoval's male co-workers over her.
The respondents hired the plaintiff on July 31, 2001.
She was working as a senior operator at the time of the alleged events that are the focus of the litigation.
The original petition explains that Sandoval attended a leadership training event while she was on leave because of an illness, and upon her return to duty, she "immediately noticed that how she was being treated was even harsher than usual."
According to the complainant, a few of her male colleagues were also at the meeting, but the defendants did not do anything to them.
Sandoval claims the men were allowed to use a particular computer while her access was forbidden, and management supposedly singled her out for questioning about the aforementioned event.
American Acryl suspended and then terminated the plaintiff for purportedly falsifying company records.
The suit insists the defendants retained the male workers despite their infractions, stating Sandoval was "shocked and hurt."
A jury trial is requested.
