HOUSTON – A former employee of a Houston-based oilfield company is suing his employer alleging that he and his co-workers were not paid overtime wages.

William M. Turner III filed a class-action lawsuit Dec. 18, 2015, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Nine Energy Service LLC, alleging a violation of the Fair Labors Standards Act.

Turner claims that he and his co-workers worked at least 12 hours a day, seven days a week. As a result, they often worked weeks consisting of 84 hours or more, the suit states. The lawsuit claims that Nine Energy Service paid all of its oilfield personnel a salary and ticket bonus, regardless of the numbers worked. The lawsuit claims that Turner and his co-workers never received overtime pay for work performed in excess of 40 hours in a week.

Turner is seeking all unpaid wages, liquidated damages, and/or penalty damages as well as an order finding Nine Energy Service liable for violations of federal wage laws.

Turner is represented by Michael A. Josephson, Jessica M. Bresler, Andrew W. Dunlap and Lindsay R. Itkin of Fibich, Leebron, Copeland, Briggs & Josephson in Houston, and attorney Richard J. (Rex) Burch of Bruckner Burch, PLLC of Houston.
