HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a parking garage manager, alleging gender and pregnancy discrimination.

Chakelsey Wilson filed a lawsuit July 28 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Republic Parking System, alleging violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 6, 2014, Wilson was injured at work when a vehicle struck her. As a result, the suit says, she began to receive worker’s compensation benefits.

On Feb. 10, 2015, the lawsuit states, Wilson informed her supervisor that she was pregnant and requested information for FMLA leave but on March 2, 2015, she was terminated for excessive absences.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant deprived her of an equal employment opportunity, discriminated against because of her gender and pregnancy and replaced her with a male employee.

Wilson seeks a trial by jury, damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court, legal costs and all relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by attorney Shelly M. Davis-Smith of Houston.
