Slip01

HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing Wal-Mart, alleging negligence caused her to suffer injuries in a fall.

Dora Ramirez filed a lawsuit Nov. 23 in Harris County District Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., alleging the retail store operator breached its duty to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, on June 15, she was walking in the deli and produce section at a Wal-Mart store in Houston. The suit says she slipped and fell in a puddle caused by a leak in the ceiling, causing bodily injuries that resulted in physical and mental pain and suffering and medical related expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Wal-Mart Stores negligently allowed the water to remain on the floor for an long period of time, failed to repair the leak in the ceiling and failed to warn patrons of the existing dangerous condition.

Ramirez seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million, plus interest, litigation costs and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys David W. Bergquist and Yanet M. Benitez of Bergquist Law Firm in Houston.
