GALVESTON – An 81-year-old Walmart shopper alleges she was injured at a La Marque store when an employee pushed a cart into her.

Helen Thompson filed a complaint on July 23 in the Galveston County District Court against Wal-Mart Stores Texas LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 18, she was shopping at Walmart Supercenter store in La Marque when an employee pushed a cart loaded with boxes into her. She alleges she sustained injuries resulting in mental and physical pain and suffering, lost wages and physical impairment as a result of the incident.

The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart Stores Texas LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train its employees how to move carts loaded with boxes and to give an audible waning when moving it through areas where customers will be located.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief, both general and special, legal and equitable. She is represented by Alton C. Todd of The Law Firm of Alton C. Todd in Friendswood.
