HOUSTON – A Houston woman alleges she was terminated from her job in retaliation for reporting sexual harassment.

Gloria Velasquez filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the Harris County District Court against Life Care Center of America Inc. and Four Star Medical Investors LLC, doing business as The Vosswood Nursing Center, citing the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began her employment with Vosswood in 1990 as a housekeeper. The suit states she reported she reported sexual harassment from a maintenance worker in 2012 and again on Aug. 7, 2017. The suit states she was terminated Aug. 17, 2017, for "'inciting problems.'"

The plaintiff holds Life Care Center of America Inc. and Four Star Medical Investors LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected her to sexual harassment, gender discrimination and retaliation and termination for reporting the same.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Todd Slobin and Dorian Vanderberg-Rodes of Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP in Houston.
