Patient blames assisted living company, transport business for injured ankle

GALVESTON —A Galveston County woman is suing an assisted living company and transport business, alleging that she was injured due to their negligence.

Bonnie McGill filed a complaint Aug. 14 in Galveston County District Court against Village Skilled Nursing & Rehab Care LLC, doing business as Baywind Village Skilled Nursing & Rehab, Relia-Med Transport Services LLC and Sheneva Handy, alleging liability.

According to the complaint McGill was a patient at Baywind Village following knee replacement surgery. The suit alleges on Aug. 14, 2017, the plaintiff was being transported by Relia-Med vehicle but Handy and Relia-Med did not properly secure her wheelchair. 

The lawsuit states when the driver slammed his brakes, McGill hit the seat in front of her, causing her to injure her ankle.

McGill seeks relief of more than $1 million, court costs, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Bridgit Ann White and Mark O. Midani of The Midani Law Firm in Houston.
