HOUSTON — A man is suing Target claiming he slipped in a puddle water coming from a refrigeration unit at one of its Houston stores.

Luis Gonzalez filed a complaint Jan 18. in Harris County District Court against Target Corporation alleging premises liability.

Gonzalez was at the Target store located on Gessner Road in Houston on June 4, 2019, according to his complaint. He alleges that he slipped and fell in a puddle of water "coming from a leak from a refrigeration display." Gonzalez claims he suffered injuries that required him to be taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by ambulance.

He further claims he suffered physical impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and has incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the alleged accident. Gonzalez alleges Target's negligence for failing to keep the premises in a "reasonable safe condition" and failing to inspect the premises or warn of the dangerous condition.

Gonzalez seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and trial by jury. He is represented by Andrew Kumar and Pulkit Moudgil of The AK Law Firm in Houston.
