A Huntsville resident has filed a lawsuit against the Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel and Casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana claiming that was injured when she slipped and fell on the wet bathroom floor.

Plaintiff Latasha M. Riles filed the lawsuit in the District Court of Harris County against Landry's, Inc., individually and doing business as Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel and Casino, Golden Nugget Lake Charles, LLC, Fertitta Entertainment, Inc., and Fertitta Entertainment Holdings, LLC, citing negligence and premise liability.

According to the lawsuit, Riles was a patron at the Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel and Casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Oct. 8, 2022. Riles claims that while she was in the establishment's restrooms, she slipped and fell on water on the bathroom's floor, severely injuring herself.

According to Riles, the defendants were negligent in their failure to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of their visitors and in their failure to provide proper warning of the dangerous conditions of the restroom.

Riles claims to have sustained severe physical injuries, which have caused her to experience pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, and lost wages. She adds that her injuries will affect her ability to earn income in the future and that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $250,000, plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Bennie D. Rush of the Law Offices of Bennie D. Rush, P.C., in Huntsville.
