In a gripping legal confrontation, a plaintiff has filed a lawsuit against several defendants for negligence and premises liability after suffering injuries from a fall on their property. On January 2, 2025, Valeri Rodriguez initiated the complaint in Harris County District Court against West Coast Group, Inc., doing business as Galaxy Stone, Ho Allen, and Forever More Holdings, LLC.
The case revolves around an incident that occurred on May 29, 2024. According to the complaint, Rodriguez was leaving Galaxy Stone's premises when she tripped over a sunken and uneven sidewalk. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants failed in their duty to maintain safe premises for business invitees like herself. "Defendants had either actual knowledge of the dangerous condition or reasonably should have known of the danger," states the petition. Rodriguez accuses Galaxy Stone, Ho Allen, and Forever More Holdings of negligence for not inspecting or repairing the hazardous sidewalk despite being aware of its condition.
Rodriguez further claims that these companies neglected to implement safety protocols or employ competent personnel to manage and maintain the property safely. The petition highlights multiple failures on part of the defendants: from inadequate inspection procedures to insufficient employee training regarding safety measures. The lawsuit argues that these omissions were significant contributors to her injuries.
Seeking justice for her ordeal, Rodriguez is demanding compensation exceeding $1 million for medical expenses incurred and anticipated future costs related to her injuries. She also seeks damages for physical pain, mental anguish, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, and exemplary damages meant to punish gross negligence by the defendants.
Representing Valeri Rodriguez is attorney Ryan W. Steinhart from Attorney Brian White & Associates P.C., while Judge Adiliani Solis presides over Case ID 2025-00148 in Harris County's 334th Judicial District Court.
