Deborah Moore has filed a lawsuit against Dollar Tree Stores Inc., alleging negligence after suffering severe injuries from a slip and fall incident at one of their Houston locations. The complaint was filed on January 10, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, naming Dollar Tree Stores Inc. as the defendant.

The case stems from an incident that occurred on March 7, 2023, when Deborah Moore visited the Dollar Tree Store located at 6102 Scott Street in Houston. According to the petition, Moore slipped on a wet substance on the floor and fell violently, resulting in significant injuries. The plaintiff claims that her injuries were directly caused by the negligence of Dollar Tree Stores Inc., who failed to maintain a safe environment for its patrons. "Defendant and their employees failed to use ordinary care by various acts of omission and/or commission," the petition states, highlighting failures such as not acknowledging or addressing dangerous conditions, inadequate employee training, and lack of proper maintenance routines.

Moore's legal team argues that Dollar Tree Stores Inc. should have been aware of the hazardous condition posed by the wet floor and taken appropriate measures to either rectify it or warn customers like Moore. They assert that these failures constitute premises liability as Moore was an invitee on the property and was owed a duty of care by the store.

The lawsuit seeks damages for physical pain and disability experienced since the date of injury up until trial, as well as anticipated future pain and suffering. It also includes claims for mental anguish, loss of earnings both past and future, medical expenses incurred due to her injuries, disfigurement, and physical impairment. The total monetary relief sought ranges between $250,000 and $1 million.

Representing Deborah Moore is attorney Christopher D. Bertini from Godsey Martin P.C., based in Houston. The case has been assigned to Judge Tiann Williams in Harris County's 189th Judicial District Court under Case ID 2025-02073.
