A Houston man sent a bouquet of roses to his girlfriend, and then sued the florist for letting his wife find out. But a federal judge in Texas dismissed the case on Oct. 15, leaving the man with the option to refile his suit in another state.



South Texas State Fair celebrates 65 years

The South Texas State Fair runs through Oct. 21 at Ford Park. Since 1942, the Young Men's Business League has brought great rides, great food and great fun to Beaumont with the South Texas State Fair. With a grand opening on Oct. 11, the Fair will run through Oct. 21 at Ford Park on Interstate 10.

Flanagan Shipping Corp., headquartered in Beaumont, is a general contract stevedore that loads and unloads thousands of ships and handles millions of dollars worth of cargo every year all along the Gulf Coast at facilities from Brownsville to New Orleans. But now one of its oldest clients is taking Flanagan to court for around $14,000 in invoices.
