Woman says she slipped, fell at mall

Caution slippery

A woman is suing over claims she was injured at a mall.

Kim Scroggins filed a lawsuit Nov. 26, 2014, in Galveston County District Court against General Growth Properties Inc. and Baybrook Mall, citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, Scroggins was exiting the Sears at Baybrook Mall and crossing through the common area Nov. 9, 2014, when she slipped on a substance on the floor and fell, sustaining injuries. The defendants are accused of negligence in the maintenance of the mall.

Scroggins seeks more than $200,000 in actual and punitive damages, including medical damages, interest, and costs of court. She is represented by attorneys M. Paul Skrabanek and Michael E. Pierce of Pierce, Chapman, Skrabanek and Bruera in Houston, and John A. Daspit of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
