Beaumont accident triggers lawsuit

A Jefferson County man is suing over claims he was injured while a passenger in a vehicle struck by another vehicle on Fourth Street in Beaumont.

Joshua Barlow filed a lawsuit Oct. 8 in Jefferson County District Court against George Cleveland, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Barlow was a passenger in a Dodge Charger on Fourth Street in Beaumont on Oct. 8, 2012, when the vehicle was struck by an Acura driven by Cleveland, who came into the Dodge Charger's lane of traffic. Barlow says he sustained injuries and has accrued medical expenses. Cleveland is accused of negligence in failing to maintain one lane of traffic and control his vehicle.

Barlow seeks up to $100,000 in damages, interest and attorney fees. He is represented by attorney Roger L. Merrill of Merrill and Associates in Houston.
