I-10 accident leads to lawsuit

A New Orleans resident is suing for injuries allegedly sustained in a collision in Beaumont.

Ebere Ekesi filed a lawsuit Oct. 8 in Jefferson County District Court against Joseph H. Dieu, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Ekesi was a passenger in a vehicle traveling east on Interstate 10 in Beaumont on Aug. 18, 2013, when the vehicle was rear-ended by a Dieu's vehicle. The complaint states Ekesi sustained injuries, and Dieu is accused of negligence and negligence per se for failing to control the speed of his vehicle and control the distance between his vehicle and others.

Ekesi seeks no more than $150,000 in actual and special damages, including medical expenses and lost wages, interest and court costs.
