La. man says he was injured on loading bay

Exxonmobil beaumont

A Louisiana man is suing over claims he was injured at work near a loading bay.

Phillip George filed a lawsuit Oct. 14, 2014, in Jefferson County District Court against C M Turk Delivery Service Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, George was working at Exxon Mobil in Beaumont on Nov. 11, 2013, when C M Turk delivered cargo. The complaint states the defendant dropped off a trailer at the Exxon loading dock, and procedure required George to check that the truck had detached from the trailer before he turned on a light that would signal to Exxon employees it was safe to move around the trailer and signal to C M Turk's employees the trailer should not be moved. George says in order to verify this, he moved to the adjoining bay, the light for which was in the position indicating it was safe for Exxon employees to move about, but an employee of the defendant hooked up to that trailer, causing it to move in reverse and pinch George's head between the back of the trailer and the wall of the bay.

The complaint states blood came from several areas of George's head, and he sustained injuries to his head, brain, left ear and left eye. The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to properly train and violating established safety procedures.

George seeks damages, lost wages, interest, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorney Randall E. Hart of Broussard and Hart in Lake Charles, La.
