Woman files suit after fall in doctor's parking lot

Caution slippery

A Chambers County woman is suing over claims she was injured in the parking lot of her doctor's office.

Virginia Jewell filed a lawsuit Nov. 20, 2014, in Jefferson County District Court against Skylar Thompson, individually and as co-trustee of the Bruce C. Thompson & Alletta Thompson Grantors Life Insurance Trust UTA 3-13-90 Skylar Thompson and Caira Franz Trust, co-trustees, et al.

According to the complaint, Jewell was walking in the parking lot of the defendants' premises on North Twin City Highway in Port Arthur to attend a doctor's appointment Jan. 30, 2013, when she fell in a hole left by a handicapped parking sign that had fallen and not been repaired. Jewell says she sustained injuries.

Jewell seeks more than $200,000 in damages. She is represented by attorney Justin G. Sanderson of Sanderson Law Firm in Beaumont.
