Woman says she was injured in rehab center

Nursinghome

A Jefferson County woman is suing over claims she was injured while a resident in a rehabilitation center.

Kermit Guillot, as next friend of Rita Guillot, and Rita Guillot, individually, filed a lawsuit Nov. 24, 2014, in Jefferson County District Court against PM Management - Golden Triangle NC III, doing business as Cypress Glen Nursing & Rehabilitation, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Rita Guillot was admitted to Cypress Glen on July 2, 2013, for therapy after a hip surgery, and though she was assessed as being at a high risk for falls the staff failed to follow its own procedures and allowed her to fall in the shower, reinjuring her hip and requiring another surgery.

The plaintiffs seek more than $200,000 in damages. They are represented by attorneys B. Adam Terrell and Steven C. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont.
