League City A/C company sued over leak in attic

GALVESTON - A League City man blames an air conditioning and heating business for a leak that occurred at his house more than a year ago, recent court documents say.

Robert B. Hafernick's lawsuit against Bob's Air Conditioning and Heating Inc., also of League City, says the defendant performed maintenance work which led to the water event.

"The plaintiff alleges that the defendant was negligent in the installation, inspection, and work performed pertaining to the air conditioner drain line in question," the original petition says.

The suit was filed March 26 in Galveston County Court.

Habernick hired Bob's to look at his system in the attic. Ten days after the visit, on Aug. 21, 2008, the primary drain from the unit leaked a large amount of water into the plaintiff's residence, the suit says.

The plaintiff claims there was damage to the structure and personal property, totaling $9,300.

He is represented by The Garner Law Firm in Houston.

Galveston County Court No. 2 Judge C.G. "Trey" Dibrell III is presiding over the case.
