A female employee with an exemplary work record, claims she lost her job as retaliation for filing a discrimination complaint against her employer.
Connie J. Whitworth filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against Baker Hughes Inc. on April 9 in the Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas.
The plaintiff states that she had an exemplary employment record and was a loyal, dutiful, responsible, and productive employee. Despite her work performance, Whitworth claims that she was subject to an extremely hostile work environment based on her gender and that these practices led to the loss of her job.
The lawsuit argues that the defendant's employment practices have caused the plaintiff to suffer "cruel and unjust hardships." After filing a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in January, the plaintiff states her employer retaliated against her, causing extreme emotional distress.
The plaintiff is asking for reinstatement to her position or actual damages, damages for extreme emotional distress, punitive damages, costs and attorney's fees.
