GALVESTON - A Harris County man has filed suit against McCoy Corp. after he reportedly sustained injuries at one of its stores last year.
John Steadham's lawsuit explains that the plaintiff was shopping at a League City McCoy's on Jan. 17, 2009, when heavy doors fell on him and caused him to fall.
The original petition was filed Sept. 30 in Galveston County District Court.
Court papers do not elaborate on the exact circumstances which led to the doors' collapse or the extent of the plaintiff's injuries, but they blame the defendant for not properly warning the plaintiff or maintaining the area.
Steadham consequently seeks unspecified monetary damages for physical pain, mental anguish, medical expenses, and lost earnings.
He is represented by attorney Christopher D. Wilsher of Houston.
The case has been assigned to Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia.
