Inmate sues jail over med mixup

GALVESTON - An inmate has filed suit against the Galveston County Jail, Galveston County Sheriff Freddie Poor and Correctional Medical Services claiming he took medication that was not for him.

Walter Earl Taylor of Galveston claims an employee of Correction Medical Services negligently and carelessly gave him another inmate's medicine last month, the lawsuit filed Nov. 5 in Galveston County District Court says.

Taylor claims the medication caused him to pass out and experience dehydration, a drop in his blood pressure and other physical ailments and mental stress.

Consequently, the prisoner seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is representing himself in the case.

Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox is presiding over the litigation.
