GALVESTON - A Bacliff man has sued BP and one of its employees over an auto accident two years ago at the oil company's Texas City refinery.
Lee Rodriguez claims that on Nov. 20, 2008, Ellis Trahan's vehicle collided with his as he tried to leave the plant. Rodriguez's suit was filed Nov. 16 in Galveston County District Court.
The plaintiff says he was traveling north on his way out of the Gate 26 parking lot when Trahan came in westward through the southwest side.
The defendant failed to yield the right-of-way to Rodriguez thus caused the accident in question, the original petition says.
It adds Trahan was on the clock for BP at the time of the collision and faults him for failing to maintain control of his vehicle and his speed as well as not keeping a proper lookout.
Rodriguez points out injuries to his cervical spine.
Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages.
He is represented by attorney Richard G. Ardoin of Houston.
The case has been assigned to Galveston County 122nd District Court Judge John Ellisor.
