Engineering firm says fired contractor still getting paid

GALVESTON Mustang Engineering LP seeks to recover approximately $16,000 from a former contractor, recent court documents say.

In a lawsuit filed Jan. 3 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3, the business claims that Richard C. Bolin continued to collect a salary and reimbursements despite his termination from a recent project.

"Mr. Bolin has wrongfully retained and has refused to return the money he collected after his termination," the original petition states.

Mustang insists that the defendant "had full knowledge that he did not have any right to the money paid to him," additionally arguing he committed a breach of contract.

"In collecting, accepting and retaining the funds, Mr. Bolin has breached his agreement with Mustang Engineering," the suit says.

"Further, he will be unjustly enriched if he is allowed to keep the funds."

Johnson DeLuca Kennedy & Kurisky is representing the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 Judge Christopher Dupuy.
