GALVESTON - A Louisiana woman's trip to Galveston two years ago resulted in a lawsuit over a two-vehicle accident.
Kathy Trahan of Maurice, La., claims Angel Mario Espiricueta of Galveston of rear-ended her on July 5, 2009, while she was stopped at a traffic light on the Galveston Seawall, court papers filed Jan. 11 in Galveston County District Court says.
According to the original petition, Trahan was driving her white 2008 Kia Sedona eastbound near the 6100 block of Seawall Blvd. prior to the alleged collision. She states she was stopped at a red light when a green 2008 Ford Expedition SUV driven by Espiricueta pulled out from a private drive and pulled in behind the plaintiff's vehicle.
"Trahan stopped her vehicle at a red light, but Espiricueta did not stop and rammed into the rear of Trahan's vehicle, causing her injuries," the suit says.
The defendant is faulted for driving his vehicle at an excessive rate of speed, not keeping a proper lookout, and failing to timely swerve in order to avoid the accident in question.
Trahan seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
She is represented by attorney Charles H. Peckham of Houston.
