GALVESTON - Dickinson resident Bonita Y. Edwards-Scott seeks full compensation for a burglary claim from Farmers' Insurance Exchange, recent court documents say.
In a lawsuit filed Feb. 9 in Galveston County District Court, Edwards-Scott argues that the insurer failed to cover the incident in question though her policy guarantees coverage for such event.
"The insurance contract was in force and the defendant did not perform under the contract," the original petition says.
Edwards-Scott explains that unknown persons made away with about $45,000 in household goods, appliances, jewelry and clothing. The suit insists she did not violate any of the terms of the contract and timely filed her claim with defendant.
"(Bonita Y. Edwards-Scott's) claim for loss under the Farmers' Insurance Exchange policy was not paid as agreed in the insurance contract," the suit says.
Attorney Jennifer L. Clouser of Houston is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia is presiding over the case.
