Pilgrim's Pride sued after worker injured by forklift

MARSHALL - A Pilgrim's Pride employee has filed a lawsuit against his employer after he was hit by a forklift that was being driven by a co-worker.

Henworth Meade filed suit against Pilgrim's Pride Corp. on March 21, in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.

According to court documents, on Oct. 8, 2008, Meade was injured when he was hit by a forklift driven by another Pilgrim's Pride employee. Meade claims he has been unable to return to work as a result of his injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to properly operate and maintain their equipment, failure to properly train and supervise its employees, and failing to provide adequate safety wear to its employees.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for medical expenses, extreme pain and suffering, loss of past earnings, loss of earning capacity, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, interest and court costs.

Meade is represented by Reese P. Andrews of Andrews & Andrews in Nacogdoches.

A jury trial is requested.
