GALVESTON � In an effort to secure full compensation for their storm-damaged residence, Mark and Leticia Irving are suing State Farm Lloyds and employee Carl Scott.
According to a lawsuit filed July 6 in Galveston County District Court, the defendants acted improperly and denied the Irving's claims.
A severe windstorm which struck Galveston County last August which caused severe damage to the plaintiffs' house.
The Irvings say the structure sustained extensive roof damage and experienced water intrusion, adding the effects were widespread throughout the dwelling.
They consequently filed a claim with the defendant, which in turn handed the case over to co-defendant Scott.
According to the suit, Scott performed a substandard inspection.
He quickly discounted many of the damages pointed out to him by the plaintiffs and made coverage decisions without conducting a thorough investigation, it says.
The Irvings learned their claim was turned down and suspect the defendants did not give them adequate reasons behind the move, insisting they were "considerably underpaid."
Their home remains in disrepair because of the supposed delay in their ability to fix it, the suit says.
It argues the defendants continue to deny compensation to this day.
A jury trial is requested.
