GALVESTON - Tacoma, Wash., resident Robin Jordan claims League City local Thomas Garcia struck the back of a vehicle in which she was a passenger, recent court documents say.
A lawsuit filed Oct. 17 in Galveston County District Court says a car belonging to and operated by Garcia struck that carrying Jordan at the intersection of the Gulf Freeway and W. League City Parkway on Nov. 20, 2009.
The plaintiff says she and the driver, Lola Littles, were waiting at a traffic light when "suddenly, unexpectedly and without warning, Garcia failed to control the speed of his vehicle and violently struck the plaintiff's vehicle from behind, pushing the plaintiff's vehicle into the vehicle in front of it."
Police cited the defendant for excessive speeding.
The original petition faults Garcia for failing to pay attention to driving conditions, failing to take proper evasive action, failing to apply his brakes, failing to avoid the collision in question, failing to maintain a proper lookout and failing to drive in a reasonably attentive manner.
Jordan asserts she did nothing to bring forth the subject accident.
She consequently seeks unspecified monetary damages.
Kwok Daniel is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss is presiding over the case.
