Trial date set for Gulf Freeway crash suit

GALVESTON - A local state district judge recently granted a Texas City woman's motion for continuance in her lawsuit against JDB Services and two of its employees.

Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss ruled Oct. 28 to move the trial setting to March 3, 2012.

Gloria Brown filed suit last November in response to a collision with defendants on the Gulf Freeway.

Her original petition explains that a dump truck owned by Gerardo Gonzalez and his company and driven by Modesto Juarez Moreno struck her Mazda Protege as the vehicles were traveling in the 2500 block of Interstate 45 South.

According to Brown, she was driving in the middle lane when Moreno unexpectedly switched over from the left lane and crashed into her vehicle.

Defendant Moreno struck the Protege with such force that the car spun out of control and struck an inside concrete barricade, the suit says.

Local police cited Moreno for an unsafe lane change.

Brown entered a motion for continuance in September stating she and the respondents were still conducting discovery.

Both parties attended mediation the same month, but initial efforts to resolve the case were unsuccessful.
