HOUSTON - Chicago's Sidley Austin LLP is opening its first Houston office with seven founding partners recruited from a variety of other Houston firms.
A statement from the Chicago-based firm said the new law office will focus on the energy industry with a mix of transactional, regulatory and litigation practices.
The idea for the Houston office first came from two partners in Sidley's New York office who worked with many Houston-based companies. When the plan came to fruition, they worked to recruit the seven founding partners, many of who have strong energy practice experience at Houston firms such as Baker Botts LLP and Vinson & Elkins LLP.
The founding partners of the Houston office are:
Kenneth M. Anderson: banking and finance; joining from Locke Lord LLP;
Mark Glasser: litigation; joining from Baker Botts LLP;
J. Mark Metts: M&A, securities and corporate governance; joining from Jones Day;
Glenn L. Pinkerton: M&A and project finance; joining from Vinson & Elkins LLP;
Sergio A. Pozzerle: M&A and project finance; joining from McDermott Will & Emery;
James L. Rice III: energy transactions; joining from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP; and
Steven R. Selsberg: litigation; joining from Mayer Brown.
The firm's new office will temporarily operate at JPMorgan Chase Tower at 600 Travis St., Ste. 300. It has plans to move into a permanent Houston space later this year. The new office will be the firm's 18th location.
