GALVESTON - Alleged violations of a lease on a League City home have resulted in a lawsuit, recent court records show.

Penny and Stephen Jewell are suing Katherine and Leonard Schroeder on allegations the defendants moved out before their lease expired and refused to make any payments.

The suit, filed Nov. 7 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3, shows the parties entered into the lease in question on Aug. 8, 2011.

The lease was for 18 months and was supposed to last through Feb. 7, 2013.

A discount of $100 per month was agreed to if the tenants signed the lease and abided by it through the full term, but according to the suit, the Schroeders moved out earlier this year, failed to adhere to the lease terms and failed to pay May and June rent.

The original petition states the respondents also incurred late fees as well as neglected to pay a reletting fee after the Jewells secured a new tenant, adding the security deposit in the amount of $3,650 was applied to the complainants' supposed damages.

The plaintiffs insist they upheld their part of the lease.

They are represented by attorney Frederick L. Fuhr with The Fuhr Law Firm in League City.

Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 Judge Christopher Dupuy is presiding over the case.
