HOUSTON - Two Houston women are suing Peripheral Computer Support Inc. and Computer Technology Solutions LP over racial discrimination they supposedly experienced as employees.
A lawsuit filed Feb. 27 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas says PCS-CTS mistreated Maria Thorn and Lourdes Arreguin because they are of Hispanic descent.
The plaintiffs were employed by the defendant as borrowed workers from Atterro Inc. Thorn was hired in January 1993 while Arreguin was a more recent hire. They were the only Hispanic workers.
During their respective times with PCS-CTS, other borrowed workers were hired to full time positions, which promise increased pay and employee benefits.
According to the suit, the complainants respectively asked to be hired to full time posts, but the requests were always ignored or refused.
The original petition further alleges the respondent "knowingly allowed - in fact instructed -" a white male employee to sign his name on work done by Thorn.
Arreguin and Thorn insist they performed satisfactorily, but the company's purported discriminatory practices made them resign on June 12, 2012.
Consequently, they seek unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
