GALVESTON - An Alvin woman being sued over the rights to a vehicle has entered her formal response.
Recent court records show Amber Lyn Ronning Rodriguez first countered Dickinson local Rene Lopez's lawsuit on Oct. 29, 2012, and then amended her answer on Feb. 28.
Lopez claims Rodriguez refused to turn over the special warranty deed to a 2008 Chrysler Model 300 he reportedly purchased from her for $20,000.
Rodriguez had the deed to sign last August, but she "at the time refused to sign, and continues to refuse," the original petition filed Sept. 21, 2012 says.
In her first amended answer, Rodriguez asserts the plaintiff agreed to purchase the Chrysler for her in accordance to her late mother's dying wishes.
She adds her apparent consent to sell her interest in real estate in exchange for Lopez buying the car as well as reimburse him for the transaction could not be enforced as there allegedly was no written contract.
The response also states Lopez's argument about the deed is ambiguous, further arguing his allegations are "(1) groundless and brought in bad faith, and (2) groundless and brought solely for the purpose of harassment."
